I originally planned to mount the pcb and ATX power supply above the Firefox PCB cage but just ended up leaving it on top my original laserdisc player in the bottom of the cabinet. I then mounted the small emulator pcb on top of the ATX case with some spacers and plastic washers. I removed all of the extra wiring from the old ATX and just kept one of the power connectors. Instead of taking this route I decided to use an old ATX power supply to avoid putting any more load on the ARII's. The manual suggests to pull the power from one of the ARII's or the switcher depending on how your game is setup.
The kit came with the emulator pcb, 8GB compact flash card (Firefox LD images already installed), 2 Restore CD's which contain the image files, install file and manual in PDF format. (There is a review and more information on the project over on the UK forums)
I am pretty sure Dave did not ship any of these to North America during the first run so I figured I might as well post a little review for those of you that may have not heard about this project. Anyway after some negotiation we struck a deal and the kit was on its way to me ! Since the buyer of his Firefox was not interested in running the machine with the original hardware he did not want the LD kit. He also managed to get one of Dave Spicer's Firefox laserdisc emulator pcb's from the first prototype run.
His machine was not running on original hardware (mame) and although he had most of the original parts he did not get around to putting it all back together. I was lucky enough to come across a member over on the UKVAC forums who had just sold his Firefox Cockpit. Dave Spicer's Firefox Laserdisc Emulator PCB Review
